The McCracken Research Library at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center is celebrating its 25th year of gathering and providing information about the West. The library was named for Dr. Harold McCracken, a well-known writer and explorer who had been a director of BBHC and was the founding curator of the Whitney Gallery of Western Art. In its 25 year history, according to an article in the billingsgazette.com, the library has amassed "25,000 volumes of publications. 3,000 cubic feet of manuscripts, 250,000 photographic images, microfilm, sound and video recordings, maps and materials centered on the American West."

detailed look at the native culture of the Plains Indians. Now the collection of artifacts has been digitized and is available on the Internet. The project was made possible by a grant from the Henry Luce Foundation. Currently 541 objects are on view. The Plains Indian collection can be found at http://www.bbhc.org.
